Ni Sa Bula from Beautiful Namale
Resort
Hold tight ... This email is being composed on a laptop with wireless internet
access from the pool at Namale - on a beautiful sunny day - overlooking the
ocean. Honestly - this is cool!!!
Susan and I awoke to another perfect day at Moody's Namena. We had already packed
and were ready for our 7:30 am boat to Savu Savu. An hour and one half later
we arrived at Savu Savu Bay and were whooshed off by Namale staff for our one
night stay at one of Fiji's most delightful 5 star resorts. We were greeted
by the staff of the resort with a welcome song, chilled wash cloth, a salu salu
fresh flower lei and fruit juice. They had kept breakfast out for us and we
sat on the deck under one of Namale's huge trees, watching the rhythm of the
ocean below us. Namale is the oldest resort in the northern Fiji Islands and
was planted with an incredible variety of flowering trees, plants and fruit
trees. Everything was planted to attract birds. Within the last few years, Tony
Robbins has transformed the resort from one of my favorites back in 1991 to
one of my favorites in 2001. Still small and personal, this Garden of Eden resort
boasts jungle and oceanview bures that are like no other in Fiji. If all you
are looking for in a resort is a huge white sand beach, Namale may not be for
you. However, if you are looking for a romantic jungle setting at waters edge,
a sweet little beach dotted with hammocks and huge beach umbrellas, snorkeling
that is pristine and boasts some things you would only see if you would scuba
dive... Namale is for you. Or, what about private dining on one of 4 decks overlooking
the ocean, 2 jacuzzis and 2 pools (the jacuzzi and pool by the small conference
center is my favorite), Honeymoon Bures with the most incredible oceanviews
over the Koro Sea, Jacuzzi bath tubs and an oceanview from your oversized bed
or sofa... Namale is definitely for you! Or... the Deluxe Bure with your own
dunking pool; a little ping pong or pool or even a movie on a big screen, if
that is your fancy (at the small delightful conference center)... Namale also
offers 2 homes that sit on the cliff overlooking the ocean. You can enjoy privacy
and seclusion or make friends. If this sounds like a commercial, it is! Here
is how our day has gone so far...
After breakfast we took a dip in the pool. We lazed around, played a little
basketball, listened to some music in our bures (Susan and I are both in Honeymoon
Bures - they are perfect!) I went for a drive up the road and Susan took a nap.
Upon return, we enjoyed lunch on the deck. Susan is now taking a jacuzzi bath
in her Bure. I, of course, am writing this review. Again, let me remind you
that I am on a laptop with a wireless connection, at the pool, in my bathing
suit, looking at the shimmering pool, the waterfall that goes into the pool
from the jacuzzi, jungle trees softly moving to the gentle breeze, birds singing...
Need I go on. In 10 minutes, Susan and I will independently enjoy massages in
our Bures. We are fortunate to enjoy Rupeni and Mary, the husband and wife team
we experienced in May at Koro Sun nearby. After our massage we will start our
sunset with a jacuzzi at the pool and a bottle of champagne to celebrate our
birthdays (we must do this at every resort!)
When we checked in, Susan asked if we could stay longer. 1 night will not be
enough but we are doing our best to get the most out of the short time here.
Our next stop, tomorrow, is Wakaya. Until then, Namale is NOW our favorite resort
in the whole world. Flowers everywhere! Soft green jungle light bathing us in
its vibrant energy. Kula birds (lorikeets) darting through the trees exclaiming
delight with the day...
Whether you enjoy a Tropical Bure or a Honeymoon Bure, Namale is a delight.
